| On December 1, 1997 Trooper was invited to Second Grade by Kimberly Baird. He was the subject of "Show and Share" in Mrs. Nowatny's class at Kennedy Elementary School in Livonia Michigan. Kimberly told her classmates about Trooper and he was able to meet the children. Trooper enjoyed the visit and it looked like Mrs. Nowatny's class had fun too. |
| Trooper and Susie were the hosts for the first annual Michigan Kuvasz Picnic was July 13, 1997. People came from four states and Canada to enjoy good food, conversation, and fun with their dogs. Over forty people showed up on a very hot and humid day, with over twentyfive Kuvasz and one German Shepherd. | |

We had a very informative demonstration of First Aid for Dogs by Jerry Webster from the Michigan Red Cross. Susie showed amazing patience as she was poked, prodded, splinted, revived, and saved from heatstroke in the half hour demonstration. The only thing that she resisted was the rescue breathing, probably because she hadn't been formally introduced. The Longest Tail contest was hotly contested, but was ultimately won by Snowey (female division) and Logan (male division). |

Ten week old Beamer won his choice of squeakies for being the youngest Kuvasz attending. Beamer's big sister Minnie was the oldest, Boomer was the tallest, Nicky was Ms. Congeniality, and in an upset, Bubba the German Shepherd was Mr. Congeniality. |

Here we see Nala attempting her best trick with eventual winner Boomer looking on. |

Then it was what all of the dogs were waiting for. Bobbing for hotdogs was a big hit with the dogs and the owners. Many of the dogs did not want to get water in their nose, but it was a hotdog in the water. It was theirs for the taking, all it took was a little nerve. Here we see Beamer's attempt. |

Frizzle won a lamb at the raffle. After all, every Kuvasz should have a lamb to protect. Thanks to everyone who came and participated. We will be doing it again next year so check back in the spring for the date. The best to all of you. |
